The Pacific Northwest Trail travels through some of our most cherished and wildest public lands. These special places are home to animals iconic of wilderness, like grizzly bears and gray wolves. In much of the lower 48 states, a bear sighting has become special and rare. Many of these animals have been lost to local extinction.
